The Inn At Rancho Santa Fe Family Photos

Elizabeth and Austin’s session was such a full-circle moment. They got married at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe ten years ago, driving away in Austin’s dad’s vintage Chevy Chevelle. So, when it came time to celebrate their anniversary, it only felt right to return to the same spot—this time with their four kids in tow—for a set of Rancho Santa Fe family photos that carried even more meaning.

We started the session with a handful of traditional portraits, the kind of images that feel timeless and classic. These are the photos you’ll want framed on the wall and sent to grandparents, and they’re an important part of every session. But beyond that, we leaned into the more candid side of things—letting the kids run around, laugh, and simply be themselves. Those in-between moments often end up being the favorites.

About halfway through, Austin pulled up in the Chevelle. Bringing that car back into the session made everything feel even more personal. It wasn’t just a prop; it was a connection back to their wedding day and a reminder of the life they’ve built together over the last decade. The kids piled in, the sun dropped low over Rancho Santa Fe, and we wrapped the session with photos that carried a fun Americana vibe—equal parts playful and meaningful.

Rancho Santa Fe family photos always have a special feel to them, thanks to the mix of beautiful landscapes and timeless architecture, but what makes them truly unique is the personal story each family brings. For Elizabeth and Austin, this session wasn’t just about updated portraits—it was about honoring their history and celebrating where they are now.
