If you’re looking for family photos in Oceanside that are authentic to your family, I gotchu! This backyard session was so easygoing and fun – exactly how I want family photos to be.

There’s this weird duality as an artist – specifically a photographer with human subjects – where on one hand, I am a professional and it’s literally my job to lead people through sessions and create moments that make flattering photos, that are also beautiful…. While on the other hand, I truly love documenting people in their own space, unbothered by me, just being themselves.

I know a place for both options exist, and that’s perfectly okay, but when I photograph people in their element and they are comfortable just existing and loving on their people without really any direction from me, I swear there’s nothing I could suggest or force that would make a better outcome.

Whenever I’m photographing a more traditional portrait session, I always find that as soon as I hold my camera down, my subjects naturally start interacting exactly how I want them to when I’m shooting!
