These beach photos in San Diego felt like the perfect way to say goodbye to summer. I have now photographed this family at this exact same beach twice this year, you can see their other session here. I obviously think it’s nice to have beautiful family portraits, but, I think its mandatory to have a collection of nostalgic images that tells the story of your family and the season you’re in. This session did just that.

All summer long I had seen Kelsey posting from under this colorful umbrella at the beach, while her girls played in the water and sand. Long weekend days at the beach, warm summer nights after work… It felt like this beach shoot would be the best way to document the ending of this first summer as a family of 5, and we did just that.

I love these storytelling sessions. They are fun, easy, and they flow. Dad’s don’t hate them and the kids have the best time. They’re a win for everyone…. Including me. 🙂
