As a North County San Diego maternity photographer, I recently had the opportunity to shoot a gorgeous San Diego beach maternity photoshoot at Swamis Beach in Encinitas. If you’re familiar with Swamis, you already know it’s a local favorite. The spot’s got a chill vibe, with those epic coastal cliffs and wide, open beach that’s perfect for capturing timeless photos. The setting gives off a relaxed but stunning backdrop, which was ideal for this particular shoot, where we let the ocean do its thing while focusing on natural, candid moments.

We timed the shoot for golden hour, and it did not disappoint. The sunset over the Pacific gave us some unreal light, making the whole session feel effortless and STUNNING. From shots along the shore to moments where Tara Mackey stood at the water’s edge with the waves rolling in—it all came together to create those perfect beach vibes. Swamis offers a nice mix of wide-open spaces and more intimate nooks, so we were able to get a variety of angles and moods without feeling rushed.

It’s got that perfect blend of laid-back SoCal energy and breathtaking scenery that just works for maternity photos.
