If you’re looking for the best park for family photos in San Diego, San Dieguito Park in Solana Beach is always my answer year round!!!

I’ve been photographing this couple for a while now. From their engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn session, and now the twins at 6 months… With their one year birthday session is already on the calendar (it’s going to be sooo good, will link it here later!!!) They drive down from Huntington Beach every single time, and they send me photos of their prints hanging in their home. These are the clients that remind you why this work matters — people who genuinely cherish their photos and understand what they’re worth.

San Dieguito Park earns its place on my list year after year. The grass stays green and lush from spring through the end of the year, there are wildflowers from March through August, and by fall the trees turn and give you something completely different. It’s one of those locations that works no matter when you show up — which is not something you can say about most spots in San Diego. I will say, I tend to avoid it in January and February when things get a little bare and brown, but otherwise it’s hard to beat.

This particular session happened to fall on one of the hottest days of the summer LOL. We were all absolutely sweating by the end, babies included. And none of it matters because the photos are gorgeous — the twins in their little bucket hats in the green grass, Lexi and Greg on the blanket with both boys, those close-up shots of tiny hands and big expressions. Six months is such a good age to photograph. They’re alert and reactive and starting to have real personalities, and these two had plenty to say.

San Dieguito Park is located in Solana Beach and is one of the most underrated family photo locations in North County San Diego. You can learn more about it at the City of San Diego Parks page or just show up on a weekday evening when the light is good and see for yourself.
