Swamis is by far the best beach for family photos in Encinitas. Photos in July however… The San Diego summer marine layer is unpredictable and some days you just don’t know what you’re going to get. This evening was glorious. Blazing sun, the huge bougainvillea and lush greenery that make Swami’s look like nowhere else in North County, and that view of the coastline stretching out in the background.

Morgan is a talented photographer herself, which always feels a little nerve-wracking — but her family made it so easy! They were natural in front of the camera and just genuinely relaxed the whole time, which is the best thing a family can bring to a session. The kids were way more interested in specks of sand over anything I had to say (lol!), but they were happy and playful throughout, which is all one can ask for!!!

I love delivering galleries full of variety so we moved through a few different spots — starting up top near the white wall with the flowering bougainvillea, then down to the beach where the tall grass and cliffs give Swami’s that textured, wild quality that sets it apart from a standard beach session. We finished up the session down by the shore and the kiddos swapped into their suits.

Swami’s is one of the best beaches for family photos in Encinitas specifically because of the variety — you get the tropical elements, the dramatic cliffs and greenery, and then the sand and ocean at the bottom.
