Cozy-at-home newborn photos in Carlsbad don’t get much better than this. If you’ve been following along, you might recognize Alison and Matt — we shot their maternity session this spring at Los Peñasquitos Ranch, and now their perfect little daughter has arrived!

Alison and Matt’s home did a lot of the work for us. Neutral walls, white linen, botanical prints, soft natural light filtering through every room — it’s the kind of space that photographs itself. We moved through the living room, the bedroom, and out onto their patio, and every corner had something worth documenting. The bistro table outside, the olive tree in the corner, the way the light came through the curtains in the afternoon — all of it made it into the gallery. I must add that Alison has the best style & is a talented interior decorator!

A note on this gallery: Alison and Matt have chosen not to share full face shots of their children publicly, which is a decision I have so much respect for. It’s becoming more common for families to want to protect their kids’ digital footprint from day one, and it’s something I’m always happy to work with. If that’s something you’re thinking about for your own session, just know that we can absolutely be intentional about capturing angles and moments that give you beautiful images to share without putting your child’s face on the internet. It doesn’t limit the gallery — if anything, it pushes the creativity in a really good direction.

Photographing couples through their engagement, pregnancy, and then into parenthood is one of my favorite things about this work — watching a family become what it was always going to be. Alison and Matt are going to be incredible parents, and baby V is already so loved!!
